I am a native South Carolinian. I am married (34 years) with one married adult son, who serves on our church staff as Pastor of Generational Ministries. My wife and I have two grandsons.

I am a graduate of Lee University (B.A.), Luther Rice Seminary (Th.M.) and North American Biblical Seminary (D.Min.). I have also done doctoral work at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary. I am an ordained bishop with the Church of God (Cleveland, TN).

I am currently serving as senior pastor of City Church of Chattanooga. I have served this congregation since 1976. Prior to this, I was a pastor in Fremont, California and a church-planting pastor in Honolulu, Hawaii. During my pastorate in Chattanooga, the congregation has grown from a weekly attendance of 52 to over 1000.

I serve on the Board of Directors of the Church of God Theological Seminary, the State Council for the Church of God in Tennessee, the Board of Directors for Turning Point Ministries, the Board of Directors of the Front Porch Alliance and the Nehemiah Project. I am an adjunct professor at Beacon University in Columbus, Georgia, and maintain an active conferences/seminar speaking schedule in the areas of leadership development, the emerging culture and marriage and family enrichment.

I am the author of Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts , co-author of The Jesus Walk (Discipleship Guide), and A Journey Through the Old Testament published by Pathway Press. I am also the author of Authentic Living in an World and A Passionate Pursuit of God (small group Bible studies) published by Turning Point. My latest book, The Laws of the Harvest , is due to be published by Pathway press in the summer of 2005.
