Mike Owen

Director of New Initiatives

World Vision

As World Vision’s director of church and strategic initiatives, Mike Owen specializes in relationship and partnership development that focuses on denominations, Christian organizations, and church movements. Mike came to World Vision in 2004 with years of experience as a pastor and, more recently, as a skilled relationship-builder for Christian organizations.

Mike is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, where he served in pastoral roles for more than 15 years, including with the Assemblies of God campus ministry and as mission and outreach pastor for Christian Life Center in Dayton, Ohio. More recently, Mike was director of millennium initiatives for World Relief from 1998 to 2001, and executive director/director of community initiatives for We Care America from 2002-2004. He also served as a consultant to churches and denominations on faith-based initiatives and compassionate outreach. Mike holds a master of divinity degree from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.

Among Mike’s passions are domestic and international ministry to the poor and suffering, and seeing the church engaged in effective HIV/AIDS ministry. In his role at World Vision, Mike draws on this passion to build synergy among Christian churches and groups with the goal of creating increasingly effective care for people living in extreme poverty. Mike is known not only for his creativity and vision, but also for his ability to identify and launch the steps necessary to fulfill the vision.

Mike and his wife, Carla, have three daughters and live in the Seattle area.
